GraceKennedy block trade dominated Thursday’s trading

A mid-sized block trade in GraceKennedy dominated activity on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) on Thursday.

Over $370 million worth of Grace shares changed hands on the day or 7.7 million units closing at $49.50. There are few shareholders with sufficient shares to enact such a transaction. 

It represented over 55 per cent of market volume on the day, followed by Carreras Limited with over 1,133,050 units or 8.1 per cent and Lasco Distributors with over 853,640 units 6.11%).

Margaritaville gained 25 per cent on the day to close at US$0.25 while Palace Amusement lost 25.3 per cent to close at $900.

The JSE Combined Index advanced by 862.57 points (0.28 per cent) to close at 304,810.98.

The JSE Index advanced by 1,034.80 points (0.35 per cent) to close at 296,406.87.
The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 1,135.75 points (0.35 per cent) to close at 325,323.92.

The JSE Select Index advanced by 67.65 points (0.76 per cent) to close at 8,965.03.  The Junior Market Index declined by 8.33 points (0.28 per cent) to close at 2,958.45. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 11.85 points (7.34 per cent) to close at 173.30.

Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 46 stocks of which 19 advanced, 23 declined and four traded firm.
