National Water Commission and Rural Water Supply Limited have responded to representation from Member of Parliament Dr Chris Tufton and teamed up to bring water to Ginger Ridge and Connors in St Catherine, West Central.

Tufton recently announced the $65 million Ginger Ridge and Connors Water Project at the Ginger Ridge All-Age School.

The Ginger Ridge and Connors communities, which have been without a regular water supply for decades, will see an improved provision of an adequate, reliable supply of water to the community following the six to nine-month plan set to begin in the first week of July.

Member of Parliament for the area, Dr Christopher Tufton teamed up with the National Water Commission and Rural Water Supply Limited.

“I am very pleased that these two important government agencies have responded to the water challenges of these two communities. This project will greatly enhance the lives of the people living here,” said Tufton

National Water Commission and Rural Water Supply Limited will collaborate to supply the communities with water by building a 12,000-gallon sump fitted with two pumps that will use solar and electric modalities.

The community has not seen water supply in almost 30 years.

“I truly appreciate the fact that we’re getting water. If it’s even once per week, it’s enough for me because from getting nothing to get something, that’s a big jump,” shared a resident of the Ginger Ridge community.
