Funeral for twin Grants Pen babies for Mar 17 amid more controversy
Naieelia and Nihailia Pinnock
The funeral for the twin babies who perished in a fire in Grants Pen, St Andrew earlier this year, is to be held on Sunday, March 17.
Oshin Rogers, the young mother of the babies, said the service will be held at the Shortwood Seventh-Day Adventist church at 10a Grants Pen Road, starting at 11:00 a.m.
Two-year-old twin girls Naieelia and Nihailia Pinnock were left in the care of their grandmother on February 1 when a blaze of still unknown origin gutted the house where they were staying.
The mother said she is however thankful for the support from family and friends who have helped her to stay strong.
Now as Rogers looks to face another challenging chapter in her life, it appears more problems are emerging for her.

The mother says she has been receiving flak from social media users and some members of her community who have accused her of organising a party at a time when she should be in mourning.
Rogers has since denied the reports.
“I have heard persons making claims that I am planning big dance, but this is far from the truth. A family member of mine who is planning a fish fry, which is all the way in April, reached out to me for support, and I agreed to give some assistance,” said Rogers.
She said it was unfortunate how, instead of asking, some people were quick to jump to judgment of her.
She said it was also disturbing that the same persons who are speaking out negatively, were not so vocal when criminals attempted to use the deaths of her babies to scam a number of persons.
Rogers recently reported that unscrupulous persons in the Grants Pen community were using the babies' tragic deaths to scam persons, including church members, in a supposed quest for funds to cover funeral expenses. She said that was while she actually had challenges to fund the funeral but, instead, potential support was being bilked by criminal elements.
