This year’s staging of Jamaica Fun in the Son, an event known for providing supporters with a rich, authentic Jamaican worship experience, will be sporting a number of new features come Saturday, July 14.

Among the new aspects of the highly anticipated show is the Champions of Hope Reserved Area, which according to Naomi Cowan of the event’s creators, Glory Music, is a section which gives people the opportunity to make an offering to the cause.

The Champions of Hope Reserved Area is an area designated to our supporters who desire to donate a minimum of J$2,000 to the event while enjoying a custom-built experience of the event,” she said at the launch of the popular gospel festival at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel on Monday.

Cowan explained that the zone was created after recognizing that though the event is free, there was a group of people, aside from the sponsors, who felt that, through additional support, they could play their small role in bringing the voice of Hope to Jamaica.

The launch event was coupled with a Partners Breakfast which was attended by pastors of various institutions and sponsors including Jamaica Broilers' Best Dressed Chicken, Jamaica National Group, Sagicor, Spur Open.com and the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport.

Giving instructions for those wishing to be a part of this new aspect, Cowan said: “People can visit our website funinthesonjam.com and click the tab 'Champions of Hope' to pre-purchase their tickets. Otherwise, they can purchase their tickets at the venue though we strongly encourage our Champions to pre-purchase online."

She also encouraged people to stay in touch with organisers on social media @funinthesonfest (Instagram, Twitter & Facebook).

The Champions of Hope Reserved is to have its own entrance and reserved parking at the venue, allowing for easy exit and entry.

The event will feature other firsts including a health village, wealth village and a sports zone focused on football.

Fun in the Son is set for Saturday, July 14 at the National Heroes Park in Kingston and will feature artistes such as Papa San, Carlene Davis, Kevin Downswell, Prodigal Son, Rondell Positive and Marion Hall.

The word of the evening will be delivered by Pastor Donnie McClurkin.
