Freak accident knocks power, traffic from Tom Redcam Drive, St Andrew

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says electricity has been restored in and around sections of Tom Redcam Drive in St Andrew after several power lines there were damaged in a motor vehicle crash on Wednesday.

Reports are that a truck was traveling along the roadway when it pulled down several power lines and utility poles, leaving some sections of the area without electricity for a period of time.

Some of the traffic snarl that was along Tom Redcam Drive in St Andrew after light poles and power lines came down there in a freak crash, and before the police diverted the traffic elsewhere.

Winsome Callum, Director of Corporate Communication at JPS, told Loop News that the problem was promptly addressed after the incident.

However, during the dislocation period, a huge traffic snarl developed in and around the area, as the police were forced to divert traffic from the major thoroughfare.
