Fraser-Pryce, Thompson, McLeod to compete at London Diamond League
Elaine Thompson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Omar McLeod are among 29 Jamaicans scheduled to compete at the Müller Anniversary Games – part of the IAAF Diamond League – at the London Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.
Double Olympic champion Thompson is down to contest the 200m on Saturday after the 27-year-old had earlier confirmed for the 100.
Thompson faces a weak field and should easily return to winning ways after she was outclassed by Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas in Monaco on Friday.
Miller-Uibo produced a mighty performance to win the race, coming home in a season’s best of 22.09 while Thompson, the Rio 2016 100 and 200m champion, clocked 22.44 to finish second.
Thompson is the world leader in the 200m with 22.00 seconds. The field in London also includes two other Jamaicans - Schillonie Calvert-Powell and Shashalee Forbes.
Two-time Olympic gold medallist Fraser-Pryce and Olympic and World Championships 110m hurdles gold medal McLeod will be in action on Sunday.
