Four vie for spot in finals of SunCity High School DJ competition

And then there were four! Months of high energy and exciting face-offs between disc jockeys representing 16 schools across St Catherine, Kingston, St Andrew, Manchester and Clarendon have boiled down to four contestants in the SunCity High School Disc Jock Competition

On Saturday, DJ Tatis of Clarendon College, DJ Venny of Waterford High School, DJ G.O.A.T of St Catherine High School and DJ Skyline of Foga Road High School will vie for a spot in the grand final playoff for the ultimate title of High School Disc Jock Winner and claim over $500,000 in cash and prizes.

The semi- finals playoffs will see two matches: the best of Clarendon - Clarendon College vs Foga Road High School, and the best of St Catherine - Waterford High School High School, vs St Catherine High School for a spot in the grand finals.

Chairman of SunCity 104.9FM  and Vice Chairman of the Media association of Jamaica, Steve Billings, noted that he has seen a display of creative techniques, growth, self-discipline, confidence and an increase in the application of values over the duration of the competition.

The schools must be congratulated for contributing to the efforts of the SunCity team and integrally promoting the theme of the competition, ‘Music & Education the key to unlock the world - Avoid Negative Addiction, Stick to Education', he said.

He also stated that the morale of the student DJs has been bolstered by the SunCity Sunjocks as coaches to direct and foster quality radio delivery and performance.

Billings extolled  the sponsors of the 2020 staging: Charles Chocolates-Bobbie Chocolates, Sunshine Snacks, National Integrity Action, Loop Jamaica, D’ Music by  Digicel,  Butterkist, Distinction College, Jergens Extra Moisturizing Handwash, Image to Impress Inc., Jungle Fiah, SunCity Tv and Top Chef Records.

The competition is also endorsed by the Ministry of Education Youth and Information and the Ministry of Culture Gender Entertainment and Sports.  The final whistle will be blown on Saturday, July 18th , 2020- Live Instudios from Shop 30-32 Portmore Pines Plaza, Portmore- 12pm to 2pm.
