Four stocks gained by double digits last week
Led by Paramount Trading which grew by one-third, four stocks recorded double digit gains in trading last week on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
Paramount gained 30 per cent to close at $3.00; Caribbean Flavours and Fragrances gained 19 per cent to close at $16.00; Seprod gained 18.4 per cent to close at $44.14; and Portland grew 15.5 per cent to close at $9.48.
Margaritaville Turks gained 9.8 per cent to close at US$0.20; Eppley gained 9.7 per cent to close at $10.17, and Indies Pharma gained 9.3 per cent to close at $2.59.
Meanwhile, four stocks lost more than 10 per cent of their value: Medical Disposables, down 22.4 per cent to close at $5.32; Sagicor Real Estate X Fund, down 22 per cent to close at $11.34; Derrimon Trading, down 17.8 per cent to close at $21; and 1834 Investments, down 11.5 per cent to close at $1.04.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 3,644.58 points (1.11 per cent) to close at 328,950.98. The JSE Index advanced by 3,979.75 points (1.24 per cent) to close at 319,886.77. The Junior Market Index declined by 0.83 points (0.03 per cent) to close at 3,192.42. The JSE USD Equities Index advanced by 6.79 points ( 4.09 per cent) to close at 166.03.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 99 stocks of which 38 advanced, 24 declined and 37 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 76,898,924 units valued at over $694.7 million. Caribbean Producers Jamaica was the volume leader with 11,708,709 units (15.
