Four St James men convicted on gun charges over recent weeks
Two 19-year-olds are among four men of St James addresses who were convicted in the Western Regional Gun Court over the two last weeks of the month of August.
The two convicted teens are: Dantae Thorpe, unemployed of Hampton Plum Tree, and Cardell Spence, alias ‘Bredda’, a carpenter of Cassava Walk, Albion.
The others are 29-year-old security guard, Michael Scott, also called ‘Mike’, of Flamstead district, and 43-year-old labourer, Kirk Russell, of Hart Street, Montego Bay and Retirement district.
Thorpe, who was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, was sentenced to a fine of $400,000 or two years in prison for the firearm, and three years’ probation order for the ammunition, while Spence, who was also charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, was sentenced to three years’ probation order on each count.
Scott was charged with two counts of illegal possession of a firearm and Illegal possession of ammunition, and was sentenced to a fine of $200,000 or 18 months in prison for each firearm, and three years’ probation order for the ammunition.
