A former Irish Republican Army (IRA) informer, who reportedly helped to stop a plot to assassinate Britain’s Prince Charles and Princess Diana back in the 1980s, was found dead in a swimming pool in Jamaica on Wednesday.
Media reports out of the United Kingdom indicate that Sean O'Callaghan, 63, who was also a convicted killer, was in Jamaica visiting his daughter when he drowned after getting into difficulties in the pool.
The media reports did not indicate the specific location in Jamaica where the incident occurred, and expressed uncertainty about whether or not O’Callaghan fell ill while swimming.
So far there has been no report from the local police on the incident.
O'Callaghan records indicate that he was jailed in the 1990s after walking into a British police station and confessing to two IRA murders. Somehow he was released in 1997.
