Former Hydel High discus thrower Shadae Lawrence has left Kansas State University (KSU) to join the Colorado State University’s (CSU) track programme.
CSU coach Brian Bedard said the three-time All-American athlete, has signed a financial-aid agreement with the university and will be eligible to compete this season.
Lawrence, the 2017 NCAA women’s discus champion, competed for Kansas State the past three seasons, setting school and Big 12 Conference records with a career-best of 62.58m, more than two metres better than the CSU record of 60.5m set in 1999 by Shelly Greathouse-Borrman.
Lawrence was the NCAA runner-up in the discus in 2018 and finished fourth in the national championships as a freshman in 2016.
She was a two-time Big 12 Conference champion and was named the conference’s Outstanding Freshman of the Year in 2016.
