Foota Hype detained by US immigration authorities
Social media personality and dancehall selector, Oniel "Foota Hype" Thomas was arrested soon after disembarking from the Welcome to Jamrock cruise ship in Florida over the weekend, a development which explains his five-day silence on Instagram and which has his 150,000 plus followers very concerned.
He is appearing at a preliminary hearing on Thursday morning at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Miami, Florida in order to get a court date so that his case can be heard, and thus facilitate his release.
Loop News has been reliably informed that the DJ is being held at the Krome Service Processing Center in Miami, an immigration holding facility. He has secured legal representation and was reportedly detained for further review of his travel documents and admissibility status.
"Foota Hype will be back on the road soon, he has to wait on ICE for them to give him a court date because it is an immigration matter. He is doing a preliminary hearing today and will get a court date. He is not being deported, he is not on a deportation list, and once he gets a court date, his wife will be there to support him and get him out. People just a talk a bagga tings about him but Foota Hype will be alright," a reliable source told Loop News reporter Claude Mills.
"His record is clean as a whistle. He has committed no crime, people want to see him deported but they will never see that."
Thomas was detained on Saturday, December 14, on arriving at Port Everglades Seaport aboard the Independence of the Seas, from Falmouth, Jamaica. Born Oneil Ricardo Thomas, Foota Hype, an avid social media user is usually very active on Instagram, and made his last post on Saturday.
