FLA halts individual permits for gun importation
The Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) has announced the discontinuation of individual permits for the importation of firearms, effective immediately.
In a notice in the Sunday newspapers, the FLA said the decision was taken as part of efforts to ensure that the policy and procedures that are stipulated by the Ministry of National Security are adhered to and fully enforced.
According to the notice, “All approved applicants seeking to acquire firearms should consult exclusively with a licensed firearm dealer for purchase."
The notice also said the list of all FLA-approved firearm dealers and their contact details are available on the FLA’s website. Persons can also contact the FLA’s office for additional information, if needed.
"This measure takes effect immediately and, as such, all relevant parties are expected to abide by the changes stipulated," the notice continued.
“Please be guided that all persons seeking exemptions are asked to contact the Ministry of National Security directly,” the notice further indicated.
