Five stocks increased by double digits to close trading week
Five stocks, led by GWest Corporation, made double-digit gains in Friday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE).
GWest gained 18.8 per cent to close at $2.97; Ciboney gained 18.2 per cent to close at $0.13; Pulse gained 14.4 per cent to close at $2.06; Dolphin Cove gained 12 per cent to close at $16.80; Derrimon closed at $13.70, an all time high and Carreras gained 10 per cent to close at $10.
The JSE Combined Index advanced by 1,831.00 points ( 0.59 per cent) to close at 314,247.80. The JSE Index advanced by 2,002.87 points ( 0.66 per cent) to close at 305,736.36. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index advanced by 2,198.27 points ( 0.66 per cent) to close at 335,563.64. The JSE Select Index advanced by 21.56 points ( 0.24 per cent) to close at 9,095.67. The Junior Market Index declined by 0.74 points ( 0.02 per cent) to close at 3,037.56. The JSE USD Equities Index closed at 155.00.
Overall Market activity resulted from trading in 48 stocks of which 21 advanced, 19 declined and eight traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 21,599,277 units valued at over $374,909,560.40. Jamaica Broilers Group was the volume leader with 8,778,922 units (40.64 per cent) followed by GWEST with 3,562,554 units (16.49 per cent) and Radio Jamaica Limited with 2,669,432 units (12.36 per cent).
