Five shot, two fatally, by gunmen in St James drive-by attack

Two men are dead and three others injured as a result of a drive-by shooting in St James on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as 32-year-old shopkeeper, Leonard Mais, and 26-year old vendor, Jason Reid, both of Spot Valley, St James addresses.

Reports are that shortly after 4.30 pm, a group of men was standing along a section of a roadway in Spot Valley, when two men alighted from a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and opened gunfire.

The shooters then jumped back into the vehicle, which was speedily driven from the scene.

Five persons from the group of men along the roadway were subsequently found to be suffering from bullet wounds, and were taken to hospital, where two were pronounced dead and the others were admitted in serious conditions.

Investigators are yet to establish a motive for the attack.
