A recently upgraded recycling plant, which was reportedly slated to recommence operation later this month, was completely destroyed by a fire, of unknown origin in Negril, Westmoreland earlier this week.
According to reports shortly after 12:00am, members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, stationed in Westmoreland, were called to a blaze at the recycling plant in Whitehall, Negril.
But the fire quickly spread and engulfed the facility and destroyed it.
The estimate of the damage to the facility is yet to be ascertained.
Loop News understands that new machines were recently placed in the facility by Recycling Partners of Jamaica.
The Westmoreland Fire Department is carrying out investigations.
