Created : 11 September 2017
A female security guard is at the centre of two ammunition finds and seizures in Old Harbour, St Catherine on Wednesday.
The guard, 31-year-old Simona Williams, was arrested and charged alongside 20-year-old Samuel Ferguson, otherwise called 'Sam'. Both accused persons reside on Panton Lane in Old Harbour.
Reports were that about 10:20 p.m., a police team was on patrol on East Street in the town, when Ferguson aroused their suspicion. He was accosted and searched and five 12-gauge cartridges were allegedly found in a knapsack he was carrying.
The police carried out a follow-up operation at his house at about 11:00 p.m., and six more 12-gauge cartridges were reportedly found hidden in a suitcase.
Williams, who was at the house at the time of the operation, was arrested when it was revealed that the suitcase belonged to her.
The 12-gauge cartridge notably is a typical feature of the weaponry in the private security industry locally.
Both accused are scheduled to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on September 15.
