Female and teen among 3 hit with gun charges; scamming ‘in the mix'
Members of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) arrested two males and a female for breaches of the Firearm Act and the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transaction) (Special Provisions) Act 2013, during operations in Coral Spring, Duncans, Trelawny on Thursday.
The detainees are 21-year-old Chadwayne Lewin, a caretaker; 29-year-old Joedia Palmer, a sales representative; and a teenage boy, all of the above-mentioned community.
Reports are that between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., two police operations were conducted in the community, during which a search was done of a two-bedroom house which was reportedly occupied by the three individuals.
This search reportedly led to the recovery of an FNH 5.7 pistol with an empty magazine, along with a Visa debit card and a Samsung cellular phone.
An analysis of the cellular phone revealed images of identity information of persons believed to be residing overseas.
All three persons were subsequently charged with the offence of illegal possession of firearm.
Lewin was also charged with possession of identity information with intent, and possession of access device.
