Father and daughter killed in ‘targeted’ Negril gun attack

The police have launched an investigation into the double murder of a father and his daughter in Negril, Westmoreland on Tuesday night.

The deceased are Vanley Kerr, otherwise called ‘Kerr’, 49, a security guard, and Brianna Kerr, otherwise called ‘Krisanna’, a student aged 18 years, both of Good Hope district in Negril.

Reports are that about 8.30 pm, Mr Kerr was inside a shop which is operated by his common-law wife, playing a game of dominoes with his spouse and two other men.

Their daughter Brianna, who had just returned to the shop, was watching the game when two men entered the shop posing as customers and thereafter ordered cigarettes.

One of the men then brandished a handgun and ordered the occupants of the shop to lay on the floor and proceeded to ask for ‘Crystal’, the daughter of Mr Kerr and his spouse.

The men subsequently open gunfire in the direction of Brianna, who was behind the counter, and who ran from the shop but collapsed outside.

Mr Kerr also ran from the shop and was shot at by the men.

When the shooting subsided, Brianna was found lying metres from the shop with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to her chest and right forearm, while Mr Kerr was found some distance away suffering from a gunshot wound to his left shoulder.

Both Brianna and Mr Kerr were transported to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where Brianna was pronounced dead on arrival, and Mr Kerr while being treated.
