Farmer shot dead in St James amid state of emergency

A male farmer was shot and killed by unknown assailants on Wednesday afternoon.

This as the guns continue to bark in St James despite the recent declaration of a state of emergency in the parish, along with the neighbouring parishes of Hanover and Westmoreland.

The police have identified the deceased as 28-year-old Chevana  Monataque of a Lottery, St James address.

Reports are that about 5:20pm, Monataque was at a garage where his car was being repaired when he was pounced upon by unknown assailants, who shot him repeatedly.

He was later pronounced dead at hospital.

The police, who are investigating the incident, have not yet established a motive for the deadly attack.
