Ex-cop turned taxi operator killed on the job in St James

A retired policeman who was operating a taxi service was shot and killed by men posing as passengers in St James on Friday.

He has been identified as 68-year-old Enos Clarke of a St James address.

Reports are that about noon, Clarke was transporting passengers from Montego Bay and, upon reaching in the vicinity of West Gate Hills Health Centre in the parish, two men were seen running from the vehicle which got out of control and ran into a fence.

The police were summoned and Clarke was discovered Clarke suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The St James police are investigating.

The parish of St James has been under a state of public emergency since January 18.
