Emergency clean-up underway in Mobay after extensive flooding

Montego Bay Mayor Homer Davis has advised that a major emergency clean-up project is being undertaken across the city starting today, Thursday November 23.

The clean-up exercise follows yesterday’s heavy showers across the parish which damaged several roadways and left a number of areas under piles of garbage and debris.

Davis, the Chairman of the St James Municipal Corporation, has also advised that following consultation with the Ministry of Education, a decision was also taken to close all schools across Montego Bay for today.

The Mayor is also advising motorists who do not have to visit the city, to stay away as lengthy delays are expected during the clean-up exercise.

The clean-up exercise will be undertaken with support from a number of state agencies, including the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA).
