Elderly St Ann farmer believed to have taken his own life

The St Ann’s Bay police are investigating a case in which an elderly farmer in the parish is believed to have taken his own life.

The farmer’s body was found hanging from a tree with electrical cords tied around his neck on Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Clifton Taylor, also called ‘Tony’, who was of a Gibraltor, St Ann address.

Taylor, who lived alone and who reportedly suffered from depression, was last seen alive on Wednesday when he reportedly told a community member that he was feeling ill.

Reports are that a search was launched after calls to his phone went unanswered.

About 7am, Taylor's body was found hanging from a tree.

The police were called and the body was removed from the tree and taken to the St Ann's Bay Hospital, where doctors pronounced Taylor dead.

No foul play is suspected.
