Elderly Jamaican-Canadian couple found 'murdered' in St Thomas

A man said to be in his 80s and his wife, believed to be in her mid-70s, were found dead in their Retreat District, St Thomas home on Tuesday.

They have been identified as Melbourne Flake and his wife, Etha, who were both Canadian and Jamaican citizens.

The couple were reportedly found inside their house - in separate rooms - with their mouths gagged, hands and feet bound, and their heads apparently bashed in.

Reports are that they were last seen alive at around 5 pm Monday. About 10 am Tuesday, an alarm was raised by a labourer and his assistant who went to the premises to work but did not get a response from the couple.

The police were summoned and, on their arrival, the gruesome discovery of the deceased was made.

There was reportedly no signs of forced entry.
