Elderly Hanover woman perishes in fire that destroyed her house

An elderly woman perished in a fire which destroyed her house in Hanover last Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as 85-year- old Doris Barnett Kellier of a Caldwell, Hanover address.

Reports are that about 1:45am members of the Lucea Fire Department responded to a call that a house was on fire in the community of Caldwell.

The charred remains of the senior citizen was found among the rubble after fire fighters, using one unit, carried out cooling down operations.

The fire, believed to have been caused by an overturned kerosene lamp, quickly swept through the zinc and wooden structure.

No one else was at home at the time of the blaze.
