Eight shot, three fatally at bar in Westmoreland

Guns barked at a bar in Williamsfield, Westmoreland on Monday night, leaving at least three persons dead and five others suffering from gunshots wounds.

The deceased have been identified as 34-year-old Corey Parkins of Cascade, Hanover; 23-year- old Coran Birch of Woodsville, Hanover; and 21-year-old Jahmar Warren of Grange district in Westmoreland.

Reports are that about 11 pm, gunmen jumped out from a car and opened fire on patrons before making their escape. 

The police were summoned and, on their arrival, eight persons were seen suffering from gunshot wounds. Parkins, Birch and Warren were pronounced dead while the other victims  – three men and two women - were admitted.

On May 2 last year, a total of seven persons were shot and killed in a number of attacks on communities in and around Grange Hill in the parish.

Westmoreland recorded 130 murders last year.

Up to Sunday, 15 murders were recorded in the parish in comparison to the 22 reported over the similar period last year.
