A police probe is on into a gun attack on two night watchmen at Thompson Town High School in North Central Clarendon early on Monday morning.

One of the watchmen later died from his injuries.

The deceased is 39-year-old Alrick Carthy, who reportedly had children attending the school.

The incident has thrown the school community into shock, forcing the Education Ministry to provide grief counselling at the institution.

Education Minister, Senator Ruel Reid, on Monday condemned the attack at the school.

In a statement, he extended condolences to the family of the deceased watchman and the overall school community.

Minister Reid also appealed for calm in the community while the police probe the shooting incident.
