The Early Childhood Commission (ECC) has congratulated Chairman of the Kind Hearts Foundation, Christina Hudson, for receiving what it says is "a well-deserved" Prime Minister’s Youth Award for Leadership.

Hudson is the Co-founder of Kind Hearts Foundation, which assisted with the construction of five Early Childhood Institutions (ECI) in the parishes of Manchester, St Catherine, Portland and St Thomas.  The initiative has impacted more than 200 children and their families.

"The Early Childhood Commission is thankful for the assistance from Kind Hearts Foundation that is contributing to positive child outcomes which will help the development of Jamaica," the ECC said in a press release.

Under Hudson's leadership, Kind Hearts was the first local donor to provide funding to Food for the Poor for the construction of D Franks Early Childhood Institution in Manchester in an effort to assist the ECI to meet the 12 Operating Standards, the ECC said.

It added that Kind Hearts Foundation has built two infant departments: Windsor Castle Infant Department in Portland and Crawford’s Infant Department in St Elizabeth.

"Both ECIs are three-classroom buildings with space for 60 students, a principal’s office, a sick bay, a fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom facilities, playground equipment, fencing and a water-harvesting component for domestic purposes," said the ECC.
