Former Cabinet Minister and Member of Parliament for South East St Andrew, Easton Douglas will receive an official funeral, the government has announced.
Douglas, who was also chairman of the National Housing Trust, lost a long battle with cancer last month. He was 81.
Information Minister Senator Ruel Reid, while addressing journalists during the post-Cabinet media briefing on Wednesday, said the Cabinet had approved the official funeral for Douglas.
The funeral will be held at the St Andrew Parish Church on Thursday, September 20, starting at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the St Dorothy's Anglican Church Cemetery in Old Harbour, St Catherine.
Douglas was Member of Parliament for South East St Andrew from 1989 until his retirement in 2002. He served at various ministerial levels including as minister of health; public service; and environment and housing.
