Drug fine before ‘gun find’ in Westmoreland

A Westmoreland man on Wednesday found himself in further trouble with the law only hours after he was fined $40,000 for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act, when a search of his house allegedly turned up two illegal firearms and ammunition.

He has been identified as 50-year-old Dalton Green of Grange Hill, Westmoreland.

The police said they conducted a search of Green’s home about 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, and found an Intratec submachine gun with a magazine containing 17 rounds of ammunition, and one 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eight rounds of ammunition.

The search party also reportedly seized some 104 additional 9mm rounds.

Green is booked to appear in the Western Regional Gun Court to answer to the firearm and ammunition charges.

Further investigations continue into the alleged find.
