The police were up to Monday searching for gunmen who shot and killed a 43-year-old vendor and shot a two-year-old baby girl on West Street in downtown Kingston, leaving the child in a state of likely paralysis.

The deceased has been identified as Andon Robinson of the same community.

Reports are that about 7:30 am on Sunday, Robinson was standing on the side of the road when men rode up on a bicycle, pulled guns and opened fire, hitting the vendor and the child who was close by.

The attackers then fled the scene.

The police were called and the injured persons were rushed to a hospital, where the adult male succumbed to his injuries and the baby was admitted in serious condition.

Sources reported that the child was shot in her lower back, leaving doctors battling to not only save her life, but to hopefully help her to regain the use of her legs, which have not been functioning since the incident.

Her family members are praying and hoping for the best

The incident has triggered shock and anger in the community where it occurred.
