As the 2018 Christmas season came to a close, gospel sensation Kevin Downswell teamed up with Restaurants of Jamaica (ROJ), owners and operators of KFC and Pizza Hut, to bring the spirit of the holidays to the Hanbury Children’s Home in Kendal, Manchester, on December 28.
Hanbury Children’s Home was one of the two organizations (Downswell’s alma mater Ferris Primary in Sav-la-mar being the other) which benefited from funds raised during Downswell’s Realignment Concert and Outreach tour earlier this year, of which Restaurants of Jamaica was a sponsor.
The day was filled with fun for the more than 30 children residing at Hanbury, who were treated to Christmas presents from Kevin Downswell Ministries, meals provided by KFC, and wholesome entertainment by Downswell and fellow gospel acts.

Brand manager for Restaurants of Jamaica, Andrei Roper, said it was truly a gratifying and heart-warming experience to interact with the children and to see the happiness on their faces.
“We wanted to ensure the children had a wonderful Christmas and we are really delighted to partner with Kevin Downswell on this initiative,” said Roper. “We have been partners with Kevin on his Realignment Tour for both years of its existence and seeing the impact that the tour has had on the children here at Hanbury, and the bondshave been created here, it is really amazing and deeply rewarding.”
Kevin Downswell Ministries has begun an ongoing programme at Hanbury’s Children’s Home, which sees them providing mentorship, counselling and recreation to the children residing at the home.
