The documents that are required for enrollment in NIDS

Under the National Identification System (NIDS), registrants will be asked to present the following documents to facilitate the verification process:

a. A computer-generated birth certificate (the old black and white version will not be used)

b. A computer-generated marriage certificate (applicable for a married woman who wishes to use her husband’s name)

c. An official document evidencing a divorce or change of name (deed poll), where applicable.

d. Proof of address, including an Address Supplementary Form and any of the following: rent receipt, telephone bill, electricity bill, water bill, or any other official correspondence confirming an address.

e. A government-issued ID (driver’s licence, electoral card, passport) or a certified letter from an approved official, including justice of the peace (JP), attorney-at-law, medical doctor, high court judge, army officer (a major or above), police officer (gazetted ranks), school principal, parish judge, consular officer or clerk of courts.

f. A citizenship letter from the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) for citizens who were born outside of Jamaica - naturalised citizens).

g. A completed NIRA application form (only for persons registering inline).
