The police have increased their presence in Denham Town, West Kingston following the killing of two men in separate incidents in the community within the last 48 hours.

The deceased have been identified as Jerome Harris, otherwise called ‘Biggie’, and Jermaine Freeman, otherwise called ‘Chromaz’, aged 31.

Reports are that about 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Harris, a resident of Water Lane, went to purchase food at a shop on Regent Street, when he was attacked by unknown assailants, who shot him in the head and other sections of the upper body.

The criminals then escaped from the area on foot.

The police were called and Harris’ body was found in the area.

Less than 24 hours after that incident, gunmen went to Tulip Lane, where they attacked and shot Freeman to death.

The police suspect that the second attack was in reprisal to the one that took place on Saturday.

The set of attacks has again left residents in the community on edge, especially because the attacks were carried out in sections of the community that are close to where the security forces have a  Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) in place.
