Decomposed body found ‘bagged’ on roadway in St Mary
The St Mary police say they are awaiting a post-mortem report to establish the identity of a body that was found in a state of decomposition in a bag along the Devon Pen main road on Monday.
While investigators are yet to confirm the gender of the deceased, sources close to the discovery have indicated that the body is of a male.
Reports are that at about 12:00 p.m. on Monday, residents smelt a foul odour coming from a section of the community, and went to investigate.
A large bag was later observed along the roadway and upon close inspection, the body was seen in it.
The police were summoned and the body, which was in an advanced state of decomposition, was eventually removed to the morgue.
The police have not confirmed whether the body had signs of injury, but there have been assertions from some residents of the area that the body was dismembered.
Further police investigations are being conducted into the discovery.
