Dane Nelson, Omar Walker showdown in Alexander Hamilton Trophy
Created : 2 February 2019
Omar Walkers rides SUPERLUMINAL in Alexander Hamilton Trophy.
A competitive quartet of runners - ANOTHER VIGOROUS, HOVER CRAFT, SARATOGA SIGHT and SUPERLUMINAL – are in a six-horse field for Saturday’s Alexander Hamilton Trophy feature race at a mile for open allowance horses.
ANOTHER VIGOROUS has never run a mile before but impressed in back-to-back victories at seven furlongs, clocking 1:25.2 and 1:25.0, stepping up in class to beat ANOTHER BULLET in the open allowance Gladiator Trophy for his last win.
After that run, he was expected to complete a hat-trick of victories but lost ground from a poor rail draw in last month’s St Catherine Cup, finishing third in the five-and-a-half furlong sprint.
ANOTHER VIGOROUS returns with the advantage of being the fastest horse in Saturday’s line-up, his main threat being SUPERLUMINAL, who is back for his first run since beating MY ELLE BELLE on December 15 at eight and a half furlongs.
SUPERLUMINAL has prepared well, galloping seven furlongs in 1:27.3 on Sunday. However, ANOTHER VIGOROUSis the controlling speed at a mile and looks ready to steal the race from in front with Dane Nelson.
Omar Walker is aboard SUPERLUMINAL, setting up a clash between the top two riders at Caymanas Park. HOVER CRAFT and SARATOGA SIGHT are closers, who will be dangerous if ANOTHER VIGOROUS and SUPERLUMINAL run themselves into the ground.
The Alexander Hamilton Trophy feature is the fifth of 10 races scheduled. First post is 12:15 p.m.
