Dalton Harris secures X Factor UK semi-final spot
Jamaican Dalton Harris secured a place in next weekend's semi-final of the X Factor UK televised talent show.
Harris once again wowed the audience on Saturday with a brilliantly-delivered rendition of 'Listen' — originally recorded by American pop star Beyoncé for the soundtrack of 'Dreamgirls'. The studio recording of the song peaked at number 15 on the iTunes singles charts in the UK.
Harris has consistently charted with covers of California Dreamin', Creep and I Have Nothing over the past three weeks. He has also been the top X Factor contestant on this chart since the the live performances began quite often he is the only contestant who cracks the iTunes chart for the week.
Harris is the 2010 winner of the local Digicel Rising Stars.
On Sunday, Simon Cowell’s Girls’ team got a double blow as Bella Penfold and Shan Ako were the two contestants sent home. Cowell, however, changed the rules and threw both of them a lifeline so that they will have a chance to participate in the X Factor Live Tour across the United Kingdom along with the top six finalists.
In addition to Harris, the remaining contestants who survived the axe were Danny Tetley of the Overs, Brendan Murray and Anthony Russell of the Boys’ team, Scarlette Lee of the Girls’ team and Acacia & Aaliyah from the Groups.
