DACOSTA CUP: Western derby takes the spotlight on Saturday

Defending Champions Cornwall College should face a stern test against Rusea's High on Saturday's opening day of the four-group quarter-final round of the 2017 ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup football competition.

The day will feature eight matches with double-headers at the Juici Beef Complex, Manchester High School and the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The Cornwall College, Rusea's High game is the second match at the Montego Bay Sports Complex and is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.

Both teams have accounted for over 20 rural area schoolboy football titles, and Saturday’s encounter should be nothing less of a humdinger to treat the western fans.

Cornwall’s head coach Dr Dean Weatherly is confident his boys can come away with the victory.

He said, “everything is going well so far in the camp; we will not be taking this Ruseas team lightly as we know that the rivalry over the years can bring out the best in a team.”

Cornwall College displayed good form in the Inter Zone round blanking Morant Bay High 4-1 and 8-0 over their two-leg tie.

On the other hand, 10-time champions Rusea's High had to fight back from a first-leg deficit to eliminate Brown's Town 5-4 on penalties at Drax Hall on Wednesday. The teams played to a 1-1 draw in regulation and extra-time.

Rusea's had lost Saturday's first leg 1-0 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex
