DACOSTA CUP: Frome secure crucial win against Green Island

Frome Technical jumped to second in Group B of the 2017 ISSA/FLOW daCosta Cup competition on Tuesday by defeating Green Islands 1-0 in their return leg game at Frome Sports Complex on Tuesday.

When the teams met for the first time this season Green Island had won 3-0 at home.

The victory on Tuesday enabled Frome to climb above their opponents on the day, as they now occupy one of the two spots that will advance to the next stage of the competition. Green Island dropped to third as a result of the loss.

Rusea’s High, who clobbered Cambridge High 5-0 at home, continue to lead the group with 16 points with  Frome on 12 and Green Island still in the reckoning on 11.

Meanwhile, in Group E, Munro College closed the gap on St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), as they recorded a 1-0 victory over Newell at home. STETHS drew 1-1 at  Lacovia High.

Munro College are now on 13 points, one behind leaders STETHS with Maggotty, through a 4-0 hammering of B.B. Coke, moved to third on nine points. Lacovia, who started the day in third, have dropped to fourth on eight points.

Port Antonio extended their led at the top of Group L, with a 1-0 away win over Horace Clarke, as second and third place Titchfield High and Happy Grove played to a 2-2 draw.

Port Antonio are on 12 points, with Titchfield on nine and Happy Grove on five.
