Unicomer Limited, the owner of Courts retail furniture chain, is implementing measures that it says will provide much-needed support to customers during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

At the same time, it has announced a reduction in its opening hours for the next 14 days, effective, Thursday, March 26, until further notice.

All stores within the Unicomer portfolio will operate between 10 am and 4 pm from Monday to Saturday. The head office at 79-81A Slipe Road will operate from 10 am to 4 pm between Monday and Friday.

The retail brands of Unicomer include Courts, Courts Optical, Ashley Furniture HomeStore, RadioShack, Lucky Dollar and Servitech.

Customers are encouraged to utilise the company's online sales platform, which remains open 24/7 for furniture, appliances and electronics purchases.

Concerning assistance to customers amid the virus outbreak, Unicomer said it anticipates that some of its Ready Finance customers may be unable to pay their accounts on time. As such, it has implemented a waiver on late payment as well as possible revised payment agreements and refinancing.

There is now a waiver on late payment fees (not allocated to external collectors), which means that customers making payments would not be penalized if the payment is past the due date, Unicomer said in a statement.

Additionally, customers facing difficulty are also being encouraged to reach out to Unicomer’s credit team at 888-927-7268, 876-619-2113-4 or their main lines at 876 926-2110-4 so that together they can work out a plan to assist customers in better managing their payment schedule.

New customers are also able to apply for Ready Finance online at www.readyfinancecaribbean.com, where they can complete the Application Form and upload the necessary documents.

Unicomer also recognises that at this time, customers may be hesitant to leave their homes to make payments on their accounts.

It is, therefore, reminding customers that payments can be made online at:

  • Paymaster - mypaymaster.com
  • NCB – Telemidas or call 1-888-CALL NCB (622-3477)
  •  BNS – Telescotia or call 1-888-4 Scotia (472-6842)

In addition to these initiatives, Unicomer is developing other programmes, which it said would provide greater assistance to customers in the coming weeks.

The Unicomer Group operates in 26 countries from its headquarters in El Salvador and has over 15,000 employees.

The company offers its customers the widest and most modern line of products and financial services across the countries of operations.

The retail brands of Unicomer include Courts, Courts Optical, Ashley Furniture HomeStore, RadioShack, Lucky Dollar and Servitech.
