Cops went in search of stolen phone and found illegal gun, ammo

A Keltec P-11 pistol with a magazine containing nine 9mm rounds of ammunition was seized along Waverly Avenue in Spanish Town, St Catherine on Monday, July 6.

Reports from the Spanish Town police are that about 11:30 p.m., lawmen went in search of a group of men who stole an iPhone.

The phone was tracked to a premises that was occupied by two men.

A search of the premises was conducted and the illegal firearm was found under a stone in the yard.

The two men who occupied the premises were arrested and charged following question-and-answer sessions in the presence of their attorneys.

They have been identified as 29-year-old Ashando Kirkpatrick, otherwise called ‘Onique’ and ‘Dwayne’, of Marcus Way, Bay Farm Villa, St Andrew, and 31-year-old Sheldon Smith, otherwise called ‘Bibi’, a labourer of Lansdale Avenue, Kingston 10.

The date for their appearance in court is being finalised by the police.
