Cops surprise man ‘with illegal gun in his back pocket’

A man was arrested by the police and an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition reportedly seized during an operation in Kingston on Friday.

The police said the name of the accused is being withheld pending further investigation into the incident.

Reports from the Elleston Road police are that about 5:00 a.m., a team of officers was conducting an operation in a section of Shoe Lane in Kingston when they saw a man acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion.

The man was accosted and searched and a Bryco 9mm semi-automatic pistol fitted with a magazine containing nine live 9mm rounds was reportedly taken from his back pocket.

He was taken into custody and has since been charged with illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
