Cops seize more than 2,000 pounds of ganja in St Bess

Members of the Narcotics Police Division made a dent in the illicit ganja trade with the seizure of over 2,000 pounds of the drug along a beach in St Elizabeth Monday afternoon.

Reports are that about 2:50pm, the police were carrying out an anti narcotics operation along Treasure Beach in St Elizabeth when, during a search of an old, abandoned boat, several knitted bags containing over 2,000 pounds of ganja were found.

No one has so far been arrested in connection with the seizure.

This is the second time this month that the narcotics police have made major ganja bust along the beach in St Elizabeth.

On Sunday, June 10, three farmers were held in connection with the seizure of 12,000 pounds of ganja along the beach in Parotee, Black River in the parish.
