Cops seize ganja disguised as ackee and breadfruit at Sangster airport

The Narcotics Police seized compressed ganja, weighing some 240 pounds, hidden in cans, packaged as ackee and breadfruit, at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James Thursday night.

The weed was found in 10 boxes, each containing  24 tins which were labeled as ackees and breadfruits.

Reports are that about 8:40pm, during a routine check by security personnel, the 10 boxes were seen in a container bin in the operation area of an outgoing flight destined for Munich, Germany.

The police were called and, during a search, the ganja was found. Additionally, a container which is suspected to contain similar contraband was detained for processing.

No one has been so far arrested in connection with the seizure.

The Narcotics Police are investigating.
