Cops host gospel concert in Rose Town
Kingston Western Police over the weekend held a gospel concert and community forum to reach out to residents in Rose Town and surrounding areas.
The move according to the police was part of their continued thrust to use community policing to build greater bonds between citizens and the police.
“At the event (we) police also took time out to thank the citizens for the support that they continue to extend towards the authorities even through challenging times,” said Howard Chambers, superintendent in charge of Kingston Western Police Division.
Police said citizens of Rose Town were known for such efforts.
Chambers said even in times when there were reported flare up of violence in neighboring sections of the Division, Rose Town continued to be one of the model areas recording just one murder for the entire 2016.
Police said since the start of 2017 the area has recorded three murders compared to other areas which continued to record increased murder figures.
