Cops bag illegal gun during shootout with criminals in Stony Hill
A Taurus .357 Magnum revolver containing four .357 cartridges was seized by the St. Andrew North police following a shootout with gunmen in Iron River district, Stony Hill in the parish.
Reports are that about 6.30 pm, a police team on operations in the area approached a premises.
It is alleged that men opened gunfire at the team and a shootout ensued.
The men escaped, leaving the weapon behind.
No member of the police team was injured during the incident.
Investigations continue into the development.
And in another operation, this time in Clarendon, a team of officers assigned to the parish's police division seized a homemade firearm and seven 12-gauge cartridges during an operation in Pleasant Valley district in the parish on Friday, November 15.
A man was taken into custody in relation to the seizure.
Reports from the Clarendon police are that about 3am, lawmen were in the area when a premises was searched and the firearm and ammunition were reportedly found in the man’s possession.
His identity is being withheld, pending further investigations by the police.
