Cops, civilian injured in freak traffic accident in Black River

Four persons, including three police personnel, were injured in a freak accident that took place in Black River, St Elizabeth on Monday.

Reports are that about 1:00 p.m., three policemen and a civilian were travelling in a marked police vehicle.

Upon reaching a section of the roadway in the Peter’s Hill area, the policeman who was driving stopped to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle.

Seconds after that incident, the police vehicle developed mechanical problems, causing it to careen backwards and colliding into a tree.

All the persons in the service vehicle received neck, head and back injuries, and were assisted to the Black River Hospital for treatment.
