The police have laid several criminal charges against a suspect who is believed to have been behind much of the recent violence in East Kingston.

Anthony Johnson, otherwise called ‘Screw’, was charged under the anti-gang legislation on Friday afternoon.

Johnson has also been charged with a number of major crimes that were committed in the Eastern Kingston Police Division.

He was taken into custody early this week as the police seek to break the back of the ongoing violence between rival groups of gunmen mainly from Oliver Road and Jarrett Lane in the Rockfort area of St Andrew.

The gang feuding is reportedly over control of turf in relation to extortion and other criminal activities, with the combatants also reportedly being funded by lottery scamming activities that the police said has mushroomed in the area.
