Cops arrest 3 suspects in relation to murder, shooting in Stony Hill
The St Andrew North police have taken three suspects into custody in relation to the murder of a man and the shooting of four persons in Stony Hill, St Andrew last Wednesday.
The men's identities are being withheld, as they are to be placed on an identification parade and are also expected to be interviewed in the presence of their attorneys, according to a tweet from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) on Monday night.
According to investigators, one of the men was held in the Stony Hill area shortly after the shooting incident.
A second suspect was held in Enfield, St Mary during a targeted police raid on Friday, February 14, while the other was held in an operation the following day.
No further details were provided on the apprehension of the men, but the police disclosed that investigators continue to follow several strong leads.
It was reported that on Wednesday, February 12, at about 6.30 am, armed men approached a group of persons in Stony Hill Square, and opened gunfire at them before escaping the area.
When the shooting subsided, 26-year-old Shamari Waul of Golden Spring, St Andrew and four others were found with gunshot wounds.
They were assisted to a hospital, where Waul was pronounced dead.
Two of the injured persons were treated and released, while the others were admitted to the facility. It is not clear if those who were still being treated have since been released from hospital.
