Cop seize 100 lbs of ganja in St Elizabeth
Detectives assigned to Area 3 Narcotics Police Division seized one hundred pounds of ganja during an operation in Great Bay, Pedro Plains, St. Elizabeth on Monday, May 04.
Reports are that about 2:00 p.m., lawmen were in the area when a hut was searched and the illicit drug was found. It was subsequently seized.
The operation in t Elizabeth comes a day after police officers arrested a man who has been described as a major player in the illegal guns for drugs trade, and seized just under 500 pounds of ganja in Portmore, St Catherine on Sunday
According to the detectives, an anti-narcotics operation was carried out in the division, during which the driver of a Toyota Noah vehicle was signaled to stop at the intersection of the Lakes Pen road and Municipal Boulevard.
The driver of the vehicle complied, and during a search of the unit, nine knitted bags containing 43 parcels were found.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was arrested, while the vehicle and the ganja were seized.
The suspect is to be interviewed in the presence of his attorney before charges are laid against him.
